Job Description

Brightspeed is searching for a Senior Engineer (Power) to join our team! As a Senior Engineer (Power), you will be responsible for the AC/DC power design in preparation of engineering work orders for new buildings, augmentation of existing facilities for power utility applications. You will be utilizing the following tools: NDS, AutoCAD, Fireworks/Bid master, JDS, FORTE, WFMT, ARMOR, TIRKS, LFACS, and the full suite of Microsoft Office. As a Senior Engineer (Power), you will be assigned a geographic area and will be responsible for performing technical reviews, analysis, and quality control of low and high-voltage equipment design application and specifications. In this role you will have a strong understanding of grounding systems and their implementation. Zone of influence, and other power design and implementation criteria to support a wide range of power utility projects, positive interaction with internal and external customers, maintain open conversation with planning and all company departments providing a high quality of service to Brightspeed customers.

As Senior Engineer (Power), your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing/defining plans for the implementation of power utility projects.
  • Preparing plans and specifications, to include gathering field dataspecifications for your power utility proposals.
  • Assuring that the most feasible, practical, and economical means to complete the work are utilizedin your architecture and design.
  • Providing cost data to support capital planning, budgeting, and presentations to senior leadership.
  • Monitoring and controlling project expenditures.
  • Overseeing the installation/construction and testing of power utility projects.
  • Analyzing local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment including planning, designing, evaluating, and selecting their power requirements
  • Resolving problems to obtain operations across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing.
  • Configuring electrical systems to user environmentsinternally and externally
  • Supporting acquisition and implementation of power components as well as electrical subcontractor services as needed

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Associate degree or equivalent education and relevant commercial/industrial power experience.
  • 8 years related experience in telecommunications power engineering, or network power planning or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled in electrical planning and/or engineering
  • Knowledgeable and able to work in appropriate systems and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work with Planning, Operations, and all internal and external customers, maintain budget, and assist with forecasting budgets.
  • Ability to maintain positive interaction between all governing authorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
