How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the S&OP Manager, you will be responsible for championing and driving S&OP throughout the Cooling Products Americas group. You will lead S&OP to balance supply and demand in a way that maximizes customer service, minimizes costs, and optimizes the use of resources.


What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee all the steps in the S&OP process, assuring timely and quality participation in the process steps and availability of appropriate inputs/outputs
  • Ensure the overall S&OP calendar is established and maintained for a forward looking 12 month period
  • Ensure adherence to the monthly cycle, holding all stakeholders accountable to defined roles and responsibilities
  • Provide direction on standard agendas and behaviours
  • Provide coaching and support for S&OP Facilitators / Meeting chairs
  • Chair standard S&OP meetings to assure unreconciled items are surfaced and resolved or escalated
  • Co-ordinate the data gathering and preparation of the meeting content (preparation completed by each area)
  • Maintain records of meeting agendas, minutes, actions, etc.
  • Resolve issues in the case of process breakdown
  • Track S&OP accuracy including actual vs. forecasted performance and develop recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Support continuous improvement of all S&OP processes, systems, and tools
  • Hold all S&OP team members to account in line with the defined RACI chart, work with the cooling General Manager as required to ensure accountability


What We Are Looking For (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:


Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study is required
  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • 5+ years working under a defined S&OP process
  • 2+ years leading a well defined S&OP process
  • Documented history of developing and / or improving S&OP process


Preferred Certification/Other Skills, Abilities, And Experience

  • 5+ years Management Experience
  • Leading teams: Is the figurehead for the S&OP process within their entity, ensuring the process happens each month as expected and role-modelling high standards of behaviors
  • Steering the business: Showcases how S&OP can support effective decision making to support the business strategy and vision
  • Transformation: Is a change-maker, transforming the vision for change into concrete actions and seeing them through
  • Knowledge of the business environment: Brings a broad and deep knowledge of the industry, context, market, customer base, challenges, and business priorities into the S&OP process, and ensures the S&OP process is configured accordingly
  • Business governance: Role-models business standards on process adherence, risk management, and continuous improvement in the S&OP process
  • Delivering for the business: Focuses on business priorities and being customer-centric when solving problems and making trade-offs in the S&OP
  • Stakeholder management: Identifies and understands the stakeholders involved in the S&OP process, acknowledging different perspectives, anticipating issues, and escalating for support when needed to secure alignment and consensus through the process
  • Communication: Is an excellent communicator 1) taking in extensive information and summarising complex issues simply. 2) in meetings, inviting and listening to contributions from all participants, to address business issues 3) around meetings, ensuring appropriate information is transmitted in appropriate ways, 4) and listening and taking on feedback and suggestions
  • Collaboration: Fosters an open and transparent, cross-functional working environment, able to influence and be influenced by other members of the team. Chairs their meeting effectively, influencing, and being influenced by, the meeting participants and mediating discussions
  • Entrepreneurship: Seeks creative and innovative solutions to business problems and role models accountability
  • Execution-focus: Ensures discussions about potential options keep focus on what is practical and can be implemented
  • Accountability: Comfortable holding others accountable, including superiors, peers, and subordinates in order to drive adherence to define proceedures
  • Analytical skills: Uses data to make decisions, models complex problems using agreed scenarios and assesses them against criteria, draws insightful conclusions and remains focused on the impact of the S&OP plan on KPIs through discussions.
  • Strategy and purpose: Internalizes the expected benefits for S&OP within the entity and drives all S&OP participants to continuously improve the process
  • Managing and executing the process: Ensures adherence to the high standards for the process and supports and coaches all participants in the S&OP process to achieve them
  • Planning process integration: Actively seeks to integrate S&OP with other business planning cycles and ensures all decisions are actioned in the business
  • Meeting facilitation: As chair of the Integrated Reconciliation meeting, is able to get the meeting to take decisions collective, and align the meeting around recommended responses to business issues to present for approval by the Exec meeting. Grounds the meeting and decisions in data, shared assumptions, and agreed risk/opp scenarios
  • KPIs: Uses S&OP KPIs to steer the business to achieve its goals, integrating S&OP KPIs as part of regular review and continuous improvement routines
  • Data and systems: Uses quality data standards and demonstrates good data ownership; understands available data sources and how to best utilize them; uses planning and scheduling and other tools to deliver effective planning; ensures standardization in performance metric calculations and reporting.
