Join the U.S. Coast Guard as a Records Management Specialist and play a pivotal role in safeguarding our nation's maritime interests. This position offers a unique opportunity to manage, organize, and protect vital records and information critical to the Coast Guard's operations and mission success.
This is a full time position that will require the employee to work onsite in Washington, DC.
Analyzing Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), Privacy Threshold Analyses (PTAs), and Electronic Information Systems (EIS) for compliance with records retention policies
Monitoring and reporting on USCG program compliance with federal records regulations
Documenting and managing records on USCG websites and portals in line with federal regulations
Validating and updating the Standard Subject Identification Codes (SSIC) List and USCG Consolidated Records Schedule (CRS)
Generating monthly reports on updates and changes to the CRS and SSIC Lis
Responding to inquiries and assist in organizing and transferring federal electronic records
Implementing federal records retention policies using the Auto-classification Tool
Processing requests for record transfers and disposals, ensuring compliance with legal holds and NARA approvals
Identifying and reporting essential federal records annually
Developing and delivering training materials and presentations on records management
Conducting training for all levels of personnel
Preparing and distributing records management communications across the agency
Bachelor's degree
3+ years of relevant experience
Knowledge and experience in working with government/military records
Knowledge of NARA database applications Electronic Records Archive (ERA), Archive and Records Centers Information System (ARCIS)
Ability to read, interpret, and apply Federal policy, directives, and regulations
Ability to managing multiple projects simultaneously
Experience using Adobe, MS Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and MS Word), MS Teams, SharePoint, MS Project, and Visio
Experience drafting policy, point papers, detailed reports, white papers, transition plans, action plans, briefings, training, and PowerPoint presentations
Experience in basic fact-gathering, research methodology, data collection, and analysis
Experience in adjudicating programmatic amendments to Federal records retention policies for NARA review and approval boards
Experience in creating standard operational procedures/tutorials
Experience implementing/deploying NARA Universal Electronic Records Management requirements
Experience cross-referencing, researching, and analyzing NARA Federal records retention schedules
