Quality Manager

Job Description

Develop, implement and maintain quality system designed to ensure continuous production consistent with established standards, customer specifications and production goals. Responsible for all quality assurance related audits (internal and external) in adherence with regulatory standards. Supervises the quality team, including Quality Technicians, Quality Inspectors and the Quality Documentation Specialist.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead, Manage and Hold Accountable
  • Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.
  • Supervise Quality Documentation Specialist to ensure all quality documentation and training resources are current and effective.
  • Quality Procedures and Documentation
  • Formulate, document and maintain quality standards/manual and on-going quality objectives.
  • Design, develop and implement quality training programs.
  • Job (Part) Specific Data/Documentation
  • Create, document and implement quality procedures, work instructions and inspection criteria (including selection of special characteristics).
  • Collect quality related data, analyze, summarize and present to management team.
  • Inspections
  • Oversee inspection activity for product throughout production cycle.
  • Interact with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality of purchased product and outsourced processes.
  • Annual PPAP
  • Schedule and lead annual PPAP activities.
  • NCR’s, CA’s, PA’s, Continuous Improvement
  • Complete Non-Conformance Reports, Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions with assistance of management team.
  • Lead failure analysis and investigations.
  • Investigate and correct customer issues and complaints relating to quality.
  • Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement teams.
  • Quality Management System Registration
  • Perform activities related to maintaining certification to all applicable quality standards, including but limited to:
  • Schedule and lead internal and external audits.

ii. Address and document nonconformities from previous internal and external audits.

iii. Conduct a management review of the quality system.

iv. Review, document and close preventive and corrective actions.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises the quality team, including Quality Technicians, Quality Inspectors and the Quality Documentation Specialist.

Minimum Qualifications For Hire

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering/quality or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of modern quality principles.
  • Previous participation/leadership in all applicable quality systems and auditing.
  • Knowledge of North American Automotive Quality Core Tools (APQP/PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and/or SPC).
  • Thorough understanding of SPC, sampling techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge in continuous improvements.

Preferred Qualifications (On The Job Training Provided)

  • Experience in injection molded thermosets.
  • Knowledge of general safety best practices.
  • Knowledge of CMM operation.
  • Proficient in applicable IQMS software modules.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Some of the work will be performed in manufacturing facility where the noise level may be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must also be able to climb stairs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, 40 hours of work expected per week. General business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
