What you will do as a Quality Manager:

  • Lead the Quality department to be sure they are maintaining the highest level of quality products
  • Author, update, and maintain the following administrative documents: Company Quality Manual, Quality Systems, and Procedures Manual
  • Spearhead ISO certification efforts to meet planned deadlines and coordinate activities and procedures necessary to achieve that goal
  • Effectively lead the Internal Audit team
  • Establish customer contacts with newly obtained customers to learn of special requirements (procedures, documentation, certification) and ensure they can be and are met
  • Receive calls from customers regarding complaints, or reject and initiates process analysis and/or improvement
  • Administer vendor rejects
  • Receive documents and address customer rejects and maintain records thereof, including corrective action design and implementation
  • Monitor nonconforming material (in-house) and review records of all scrap, cause, and disposition
  • Compile statistical analyses per customer requests (R & R, X-bar, histograms...) and maintain records of these analyses to evaluate and determine improvement methods
  • Direct Quality personnel in calibration procedures and perform timely calibration on needed equipment


What you need to be a Quality Manager:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school; or 2+ years of related experience and/or on-the-job training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
