We are currently looking for a Quality Control/Quality Assurance Supervisor for a large Military/Defense Manufacturing company based in Southern Alabama! Our client located in Troy, Alabama is seeking a Quality Control/Quality Assurance Supervisor to oversee their growing Quality Control Department. Summary/Objective

The Supervisor of Quality Control plays a pivotal role within the factory, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Quality Control Departments. This position leads the inspection and monitoring of programs and processes essential to our quality department.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to part quality standards defined by Product Engineering.
  • Maintain or surpass quality control benchmarks during the inspection process to ensure part flow meets expectations.
  • Proficiently conduct inspections using artifacts and electronic gauging.
  • Demonstrate expertise in surface plate layout techniques and various inspection equipment.
  • Communicate daily production requirements effectively to leads, emphasizing safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Interpret GD&T technical prints accurately.
  • Develop, sustain, and enhance quality control methods and procedures.
  • Determine offsets and adjust as required.
  • Provide comprehensive training and audits on employees' quality progress and mentor them effectively.
  • Conduct various inspections including set-up, first piece, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Ensure employees are equipped with necessary tools, standards, and PPE for safe, accurate, and efficient job performance.
  • Conduct firearm inspections using visual, functional, and safety criteria.
  • Develop standard work, setup sheets, and standard operations for production tasks.
  • Provide timely performance feedback to all quality department members.
  • Immediately report to management any quality or productivity issues beyond lead resolution.
  • Proficiently utilize Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel).
  • Independently make accurate decisions on product disposition.
  • Troubleshoot problems and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Adhere to and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Understand and familiarize oneself with the nature and functionality of inspected products.
  • Effectively communicate and report functional or cosmetic discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Accurately input all required data into the manufacturing database.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position directly supervises the quality department.


Minimum Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of firearms, including quality, features, and safety aspects.
  • Demonstrated track record of at least 5 years of successful work in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Cross-functional team-building skills with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment subject to regulatory and business changes.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with multitasking capabilities.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in using and programming CMM machines.
