The Project Manager - Product Portfolio is responsible for analyzing all new product development, product sustainment, advanced technology, and strategic alliance activities in order to maximize the return on investment of the entire portfolio of Global Product Development (GPD) spending. Strategically this includes working with GPD leadership to develop product line investment strategies. Tactically, it includes working with program managers, project engineers, financial controllers, and product management to ensure the product portfolio is appropriately balanced across development horizons, product categories, risk profiles, and strategic priorities. A successful candidate for this role will possess a unique set of financial, data analytics, and automation skills.

YOUR IMPACT
- You will work with the Portfolio Management and platform teams to provide tools to appropriately allocate research and development dollars into each product segment, advance technology, and strategic alliance opportunity.
- This role forecasts the impact of all GPD activities on the long-range model in terms of market share, revenue, and operating income, including calculating the return on invested capital for each activity.
- You will collaborate with key stakeholders on the distribution of projects within the product portfolio, focusing on achieving the desired balance between long/short term horizons, risk/reward, and the level of alignment with business strategies.
- You will work with Product Management and engineering to develop new product development project scopes which maximize the use of product development resources by utilizing a series of financial metrics and scoring models to rate the value of each proposed project.
- Collaborate with the product sustainment engineering leadership to ensure resources are deployed on the most valuable projects to the organization.
- You will create and maintain scoring models for active and proposed products which include financial, strategic alignment, risk, probability of technical success, and probability of commercial success metrics.
- Partner with Program Management on new product development programs to integrate scoring models through each of the process gates, from initial market assessment and concept design through commercialization to ensure continuous alignment with business strategies and to act as a basis for phase gate evaluation.
- Develop and maintain tools, reporting/dashboards to provide portfolio visibility to key stakeholders and drive accountable business results.
- You will automate portfolio data collection and presentation where possible.
- B.A. or B.S. in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or other related fields required.
- A minimum of 4 years related experience in business or engineering. Experience in a related industry is desirable, but not required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel (Intermediate to Advanced), PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
- Strong analytical decision-making and conceptual thinking skills.
- M.B.A.
- Knowledge of and experience with data visualization and reporting packages (Cognos Analytics, Watson Analytics, Power BI, etc.), database (SQL, etc.), and programming (Python, JavaScript, ETL tools, etc.).
- Experience in product development of capital goods in a B2B environment.
