Position Responsibilities:

The Project Engineer for Mechanical Equipment is responsible for providing engineering designs for our Engineered Solutions business. They will work independently with input from our internal SMEs to ensure that our engineered solutions meet the needs of the customer. The primary responsibility lies in designing and leading the technical aspects of our mechanical equipment projects. Generally, the Project Engineer will work on moderate to large size projects as a primary technical resource for completing project engineering tasks.


Responsibilities

Serves as technical interface between the sales team, customer, and engineering department for custom engineered air compression equipment and packaging.

Research and compile supporting documentation from suppliers and internal sources for customer quotations and prepare preliminary layout drawings.

Analyze customer specifications to determine compatibility with available equipment.

Craft robust sizing tool to identify major components required for rotating equipment package quotes.

Communicate project status to Project Management and customer as required.

Provide technical support during project execution and on-site final testing.

Develop project plan, system wiring, and interconnection requirements for structural, mechanical, and electrical systems for packaged rotating equipment.

Determine project instrumentation and other auxiliary equipment by reviewing product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.

Collaborate with project managers and designers to maintain schedule by verifying project plan and specifications while sequencing project elements.

Create Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) [per ISA standards] and other key engineered compressor package documentation.

Control project costs by working with outside suppliers to specify proper componentry.


Qualifications

Requires experience with rotating equipment, prefer Ingersoll-Rand experience.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related experience.

General technical experience in rotating equipment, instrumentation, control systems, manufacturing, or industrial equipment.

Able to communicate effectively with other team members and customers.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Strong written and oral communication skills

Enjoy working in a team environment.

Highly motivated self-starter

Ability to identify problems and provide solutions.


Work Environment:

The employee will work primarily indoors in an office environment or in a home office dependent on the Hybrid Work Policy.
