Our client, in the manufacturing industry, is in need of a talented and motivated Production/Manufacturing Planner to join their team ASAP!
You will be responsible for planning and preparing production materials, travelers, and work orders. Preparing and entering operational/manufacturing sequence data into the MRP system. Responsible for all tactical planning and execution of the required suppliers of parts, processes and materials, including PO placement and management.
Primary Reponsibilities
Production-planning supervision, scheduling for production, preparing production schedules for manufacturing of industrial or commercial products.
Ensures each operation meets shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
Analyzing production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
Planning and scheduling workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
Planning sequence of assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
Determining the status of assigned projects, expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
Preparing production reports.
Prepares purchase orders to obtain materials, tools, and equipment.
Plans the process for manufacture, fabrication, assembly or installation of parts, components, assemblies, etc.
Analyzes and interprets production bills of material, scopes, specifications, etc., to determine the content & plan manageable work elements.
Prepares defined work packages, including detailed instructions, drawings, bills of material, references, inspection requirements, etc., to initiate and control production work.
Monitors, analyzes & reports performance to schedule of production & production support activities, utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.
Correctly assess whether required parts can be issued from Finished Goods Inventory, should be manufactured in-house, or sub-contracted to outside suppliers. For parts sub-contracted to outside vendors, estimate the amount of in-house manufacturing hours and costs to be converted to vendor dollars.
Research order and delivery discrepancies and resolve MRP related issues. Take appropriate corrective actions to prevent similar issues.
Reproduce drawings and assemble drawing packets complete with work-order router (traveler), completion dates, and instructions for subsequent operations.
Distribute assembled drawing packages and engineering-change-notices among departments
Ensures all parties are fully cognizant of production status, schedule changes, & that work planning and execution objectives are integrated & communicated.
Coordinates & expedites the placement of purchase orders and/or delivery of material.
Interfaces w/Purchasing, Engineering, suppliers or customers to coordinate the shipment of parts and materials.
Schedules, expedites, & coordinates the delivery & movement of critical material, including material transfers & conditional material releases.
Initiates replacement orders for lost, damaged or discrepant items.
