Principal Engineer for Emerging Materials and Devices (5082)

Overview Of Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and enthusiastic engineer to join our Corporate Research team in San Jose. The Principal Engineer for Emerging Materials and Devices will be responsible to explore new materials and device to improve the chip performance. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with the internal teams in San Jose and Taiwan and external world-class researchers in universities. We are currently operating in a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office. You will report to the Senior Program Manager in Corporate Research.

Responsibilities

  • Novel material exploration, development, processing and device integration using nanofabrication facilities.
  • Device testing and troubleshooting.
  • Design of experiments to explore new material and their integration in high performance ICs.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external collaborators. Conduct work at in-house and off-site facilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD degree in a relevant field such as Physics, Material Science, Chemistry or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in material characterization techniques including structural, chemical, thermal, and mechanical analysis.
  • Experience in semiconductor device processing and integration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced in data analysis.
  • Experienced in one or more of physics-based simulation tools and scripting languages.
  • Persistent to complete assigned work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Pay Transparency / Benefits Statement

At TSMC, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role typically pays a base salary between $128,000and $175,000 per year. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range. Factors that influence pay include the individual's skills, qualifications, education, experience and the position level and location. TSMC’s total compensation package consists of market competitive pay, allowances, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits. We also offer extensive development opportunities and programs.
