Role: Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Location: Irvine, CA - 92606

Duration: 09 Months

Job Description

  • Develop new software and improve existing software for embedded platforms.
  • Write and update software requirement and design documents.
  • Manage the software toolchain and software development environment.
  • Automate the software building and testing processes.
  • Skilled in real-time embedded software development.
  • Experienced in developing software for multi-threaded or multi-tasking environments.
  • Proficient in hardware-software integration.
  • Skilled in software testing, static analysis, and debugging at the hardware/software interface (using tools like ICE/JTAG).
  • Understands object-oriented design and methodology, including UML.
  • Experienced in testing automation.
  • Excellent in documentation and communication, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in medical devices or another regulated industry.
  • Experience with commercial real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Skilled in embedded programming for Windows and Linux.
  • Experience in setting up toolchains and build environments.
  • Familiar with networking protocols, including wireless and Bluetooth.
  • Experience in UI development.
  • Knowledgeable in using laboratory instruments like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 10+ years of experience (or 8 years with a Master's) in embedded systems programming using C or C++.
