Description
Opening for part time faculty to teach Aviation Safety/Accident Investigation course. Candidates should possess significant aviation industry experience; college level teaching and commercial pilot certificate preferred.
This position includes classroom lecture once a week, Tuesday 9:00AM-11:50AM, preparation of material and lesson plans, facilitating guided discussion, maintaining currency with industry standards.
This course provides the student with a fundamental understanding of safety factors in aviation operations and sufficient knowledge to prepare for safety components of advanced FAA certifications throughout their careers. The student uses actual NTSB accident reports to explore, analyze, and discuss the complex and interacting factors involved with aircraft accidents and incidents, as well as the methodology of subsequent investigation. The course gives particular attention to safe operation of aircraft, managing distractions, communications, attitudes towards safety, and cultivating a firm commitment to safe operations at all times. The student may attend two FAAST Team seminars during the semester.
