Operations Engineer – Job Description
Scout Energy is a private energy investment firm that acquires, operates, and improves upstream conventional oil
and gas properties for institutional investors. Scout’s business is both the management of the private energy funds
and the operations of the oil and gas assets it owns. The current employee base is approximately 850 with 150
employees in the Dallas (headquarters) office.
Scout is seeking an Operations Engineer. Of particular focus will be managing operational aspects of specific fields
in the company’s portfolio. This position will report to a Region Manager as a part of our Operations group.
Duties & Responsibilities

Scout is seeking an Operations Engineer. Of particular focus will be managing operational aspects of specific fields
in the company’s portfolio. This position will report to a Region Manager as a part of our Operations group.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support day to day field operations with technical knowledge
- Create AFE’s and procedures to increase production and/or decrease operating expenses
- Monitor production and expenses to identify problems and potential areas for improvement
- Assist other departments in the office as the primary point of contact for a group of assets
- Plan and execute workovers in the field as needed
- Work independently of and in cooperation with the exploitation department to identify upside and
- Update and maintain reserves database for annual reserves review
- Travel as necessary to accomplish above tasks
- Experience with field operations, workovers, surface facilities, and artificial lift
- Strong communication skills for correspondence with company management, field personnel and
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic project economics
- Exposure to software such as PHDWin, Rodstar, TAM, Petra
- Experience generating and executing projects in the field preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in petroleum, mechanical, or other related engineering field
- Minimum 1-5 years of oil and gas experience
