The Membership Sales Director passionately conveys the numerous reasons why businesses must invest in the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau for their success.
The Membership Sales Director sells Chamber memberships to prospective non-member businesses; upgrades existing members to higher levels of membership; and sells various sponsorship and member marketing opportunities.
This position is a champion for the business community and is always member obsessed. This frontline position serves as one of the chamber’s faces, and therefore requires excellent communication and networking skills, a professional demeanor and appearance, and a strong understanding of the local business landscape.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Acquire New Members
• Develops monthly targets for new membership sales.
• Performs prospect activities, including but not limited to research, cold-calling and scheduled appointments.
• Follows up on all inbound leads and provides information to new prospects as requested.
• Works with Member Services Director to onboard all new members.
• Develops annual membership budget, plan (including sales forecasting activities) and performance goals.
Member Upgrades
• Upgrades existing memberships to higher levels of membership.
Sponsorship & Program Sales
• Sells sponsorships and member marketing programs.
• Helps develop new programs and benefits that address business community’s changing needs.
• Coordinates with Communications & Marketing Manager on VisitSedona.com Destination Signals advertising program.
Retain Existing Members
• Works with Member Services Director on unpaid dues to encourage payment and ensure membership value.
• Visits or calls existing members to discuss membership value and check in.
Additional
• Collaborates with co-workers to ensure products sold are delivered.
• Produces monthly sales reports.
• Driving force to continually improve member satisfaction and engagement at the chamber.
• Attends chamber events, community gatherings, and business functions to promote membership benefits.
• Maintains knowledge of goals, objectives, features and services of membership.
• Other activities as assigned by the President/CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
• Previous sales experience required.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Actively supports the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau’s mission and vision.
• Regularly improves and enriches selling skills and techniques.
• Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information.
• Must have/maintain a dependable vehicle and must provide proof of insurance and valid driver’s license upon request.
• Computer Skills: Word Processing, Data Base, Spreadsheets, Power Point, Chamber proprietary software.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
• Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience or Bachelor’s degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university.
• Previous experience working for a Chamber of Commerce or other not for profit organization.
• Knowledge of Greater Sedona and Verde Valley business community a plus.
