The Mechanical Quality Inspector is responsible for the First Article Inspection and ensures product conformity to establish requirements by evaluating product to customer and Engineering drawings, specifications, and other related documents. Coordinates the receiving, in-process and final product inspections, and documents results in various reports and logs in the Quality System Network.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Fundamental mechanical and mathematical inspection knowledge
Familiar with the use of all inspection hand gauging including but not limited to, micrometers, thread gauges, dial indicators, calipers, height gauges, etc
Ensure proper operation of measurement equipment by following operating instructions
Robust knowledge of GD&T, blueprint, and spec interpretation
Work and adhere to quality management systems and requirements (i.e., training, policies, procedures, document control)
Assists Engineering and Manufacturing in the investigation of non-conformities
Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following guidelines and procedures and complying with all applicable regulations
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
GD&T Experience Required
Experience with inspection equipment such as - Mics, Calipers, Opticals, and Micro heights
Extensive knowledge of software and database testing including designing and manipulating test data, validating stored jobs, and error replication
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to create test plans and cases from specifications or verbal communications
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to serve as a liaison with developers, project managers, and customer support
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
Aerospace experience OR AS9100
Lean Manufacturing is a plus
5+ years preferred experience and /or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
High school diploma or GED required

Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language. Ability to effectively interpret and translate instructions to other employees in a professional and respectful manner
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 15 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
