Position Overview:

The Mechanical Engineer will utilize their engineering skills and concepts to assist thyssenkrupp nucera’s engineering team to meet project objectives in a timely manner. You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the engineering and project execution team for project execution while learning valuable skills related to manufacturing and distribution in the Green Hydrogen and Chlor-alkali industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing mechanical engineering support for multiple simultaneous projects. This may include a variety of responsibilities, both in-office and in-plant, from design through construction and commissioning
  • Creating Mechanical Construction packages, including work scopes, equipment location plans, plot plans, stress analysis packages, piping design sketches and equipment designs & specification sheets
  • Reviewing engineering packages, vendor material lists, specifications and drawings
  • Examining products to validate conformance to direct set-up, specifications, and adjustments of various mechanical equipment and piping
  • Travel (both foreign and domestic) will be necessary as required during design and construction / startup phases
  • Possess superior oral and written communication skills, and remote collaboration is essential due to the international coordination required for this work
  • Interact positively with the Client, official contacts, project teams, equipment suppliers, contractors and office staff

Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in the power, petrochemical, chemical plants, and process industry
  • Experience working in Chlor-alkali industry is a plus
  • Experience with 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D CADWorkx and NavisWorks
  • Experience with pipe stress analysis software such as CAESAR II, Autopipe
  • EIT certification is desired. The expected mid-term goal of the candidate is to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license, regardless of current EIT status
  • Applicants should be self-motivated and possess the ability to perform tasks independently with minimal supervision. The ability to think critically, multi-task, and keep up in a typical project deadline environment is critical
  • Proficient in using Microsoft office tools is required
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization
  • Assures all engineering work is carried out in accordance with organizational technical standards and procedures, contract requirements, and applicable governmental regulations. Knowledge of API, CSA, ANSI and ASME standards is a must
  • Fully versed in the operation of piping tasks such as Piping Specifications, materials, fittings and other piping related components
  • Maintains an advanced level of understanding and expertise for how engineering concepts are applied to solve problems
  • Ability to work effectively from home, the assigned office, or a hybrid arrangement
  • Familiarity with compiling documentation for PDP, Pre-FEED, and FEED packages is desired
  • Ability to work on a multi-cultural team with diverse backgrounds
