Mechanical Engineer II

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer uses engineering techniques to design, maintain, and improve new and existing products for engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility. Working with analysis and CAD software, the Engineer works to continually improve processes to generate world class products.

This position will serve our Raypak Division, located in Oxnard, C A

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape and arrangement of parts.
  • Work in a Product Lifecycle Management system for CAD data management, electronic change order processing, bill of material structure, and data transfer
  • Sketches rough layouts and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes.
  • 3D CAD certified in development of 3D solid models and 2D production drawings.
  • Experience with interactions of mechanical parts and electrical wiring, components, PCAs, and harnessing.
  • Experience with combustion units/appliances
  • Experience in project tracking and problem solving through hands-on support of design, prototype, and manufacturing of finished products.
  • Simulation experience in Stress, Flow, or other related modules
  • Assist Project Engineer with unit investigation and troubleshooting of product design related problems and opportunities, documenting findings and performing corrective/improvement changes.
  • Reviews product design through 3-axis model check for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, model integrity, manufacturability, and related specifications.
  • Experience with data extract, processing, and analytics.
  • Support Project Engineer with internal department teams to define pertinent factors such as inter-changeability, service requirements, vendor selection, efficiency and agency requirements defined by project specifications
  • Provide detailed design presentations to multi-discipline groups across the company
  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards and customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
  • Assist in creating evaluation test plans and coordination with lab personnel on test set-up, data acquisition, interpretation of data and means for achieving desired test results.
  • Assist with deliverable project schedule by assigned project
  • Assist Mechanical Engineer I and other department personnel in driving task completion and process understanding

Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience, Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Experience in electronic file management and engineering/manufacturing change processes.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP and bill of material structuring
  • Strong reasoning and analytical skills (ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations)
  • Experience in manufacturing processes engineering and engineering computer systems including SolidWorks solid modeling software.
  • Experience in working with governing certification standards and agencies preferred.
  • Occasional travel required.

How To Stand Out

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with cost improvement projects.
  • Experience with gas combustion.
  • Experience with heat pump design and heat exchanger optimization.
  • Experience in appliance design preferred.
  • Familiarity with any of these testing standards (CSA, UL, DOE, ASTM).
  • Manufacturing implementation experience.

Pay scale for this role based in California is: $75,500-$120,700. Please note all pay ranges are broadly stated and any final offer is dependent on factors such as location, direct experience, market guidance and internal equity, among other qualifying criteria.
