The DGR Engineering Electrical Power Department in Rock Rapids, Iowa is seeking a Mechanical Engineer. In this position, you will work as a design engineer on a variety of projects including infrastructure improvements for utilities and industry in the upper Midwest. Typical projects include electrical generation facilities, wastewater collection and treatment facilities and water supply and treatment facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

• Have the ability to review and understand technical drawings and specifications.
• Perform general mechanical engineering tasks supporting project team members as required. This is expected to include code review and related research, engineering calculations, design layouts, sizing and selecting equipment, preparation of specifications and other assigned tasks.
• Coordinate and support the project design with other disciplines, including Civil, Architectural, Structural and Electrical staff.
• Ability to establish and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to travel within the region to Clients and jobsites.
• Be able to gain familiarity with engineering and design software as needed. Desirable experience in: Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), Adobe or Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Trane TRACE, Trane TRACE 3D Plus, COMCheck.
• Possess skills to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Possess good communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of clients.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME/MSME) from an ABET accredited entity.
• Attained Engineering Intern status through passing Fundamentals of Engineering Examination. Professional Engineering examination successful completion a plus.
