Element6's client is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join their innovative team in Arlington, TX. Primary Responsibilities:
Apply Methodology and Standards: Learn and utilize company-specific methodology and design standards for Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) and Checked Baggage Inspection Systems (CBIS).
Develop 3D Designs: Create detailed mechanical system designs using 3D design software.
Produce High-Quality Documentation: Generate precise and high-quality design documents for client delivery.
Project Coordination: Assist Project Engineers and Leaders with various project tasks and coordination efforts.
Multi-Discipline Collaboration: Facilitate design coordination across a team of architects and engineers.
Review Submittals: Aid in the review of mechanical submittals from contractors.
Document Evaluation: Participate in peer reviews to evaluate project documents.
On-Site Evaluations: Conduct on-site system evaluations, testing, and surveys as necessary.
Respond to RFIs: Provide clarifications and answers to contractors' RFIs.
Project Reporting: Contribute to the production of comprehensive project reports.
Adhere to BIM Standards: Follow BIM guidelines, plans, and best practices.
General Requirements:
Attention to Detail: Ability to focus on intricate details while maintaining a holistic view of the project.
Initiative: Proactively complete project tasks with minimal guidance.
Task Management: Effectively manage tasks across multiple projects.
Experience: 1-2 years of engineering design experience with baggage handling systems or similar systems.
Licensing: Professional licensing preferred but not required; willingness to obtain a license is desirable.
Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical issues clearly to a general audience.
Software Proficiency: Experience with 3D design software such as Revit and AutoCAD; knowledge of additional Autodesk software like Navisworks and ReCap is advantageous.
Construction Document Understanding: Ability to comprehend construction documents.
Software Skills: Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu is preferred; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential.
Problem-Solving: Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Degree: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution or relevant system design experience.
Travel Requirements:
Periodic Travel: Travel is required periodically, approximately 15-20%, varying with project demands.
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain security clearance for work within an airport environment.
