The Materials Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the purchasing and planning functions related to products and materials. Manage supplier selections and supplier evaluations, procurement of raw materials and parts, and develop future business plans based on the organization's needs. The Materials Supervisor will collaborate with the R&D and Sales teams to forecast demand and plan production, while also building relationships with suppliers and implementing effective business strategies. Pricing negotiations, disaster planning, and supplier reviews are also part of their responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing and Planning:
Coordinate the planning and scheduling functions for products and materials.
Perform supplier evaluations and qualifications.
Procure raw materials, parts, and services.
Understand future business plans and align with the organization's needs.
Collaborate with R&D and Sales teams to forecast demand and plan production.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
Develop and implement business strategies to optimize supplier performance.
Conduct pricing negotiations to ensure favorable terms and costs.
Perform supplier reviews, control, audits, and quality assessments.
Conduct supplier onsite audits, manage SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request), and fulfill part inspection requirements.
Forecast Analysis And Operational Planning
Analyze forecasts and convert them into a feasible operational plan of the Master Production Schedule.
Run Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and create Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Purchase Orders (PO) in a timely manner.
Manage and resolve shortages by analyzing shortage reports, inventory levels, and supplier delivery dates.
Ensure execution of plans to meet customer delivery and satisfaction.
Conduct materials, capacity, and resource constraint analysis and adjust forecasts accordingly.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Understand the organization's business needs and actively pursue and help meet organizational goals.
Provide planning metrics such as forecast accuracy, on-time delivery, and production attainment.
Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Procurement teams on supplier scorecards.
Schedule planning meetings with cross-functional teams to align strategies and objectives.
Support High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Monitor Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and take appropriate actions.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement and planning.
Experience in NPI project management is a plus.
Proficiency in computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of SAP.
Proficiency in Korean Language is a plus.
Ability to travel to suppliers as needed.
