The Marina Boat Captain is responsible for safely operating and managing our houseboat on the private Water Valley Lake, ensuring the safety of passengers, and providing exceptional experience on the water. This includes successfully launching, running, navigating, and docking the houseboat. Responsible for general maintenance of the houseboat. The houseboat is a sales and revenue generating vehicle for Pelican Lakes Country Club. The captain will present themselves professionally. A primary responsibility will be the enjoyment and satisfaction of Pelican Lakes Country Club guests.
Essential Job Functions
Operate and navigate the houseboat in various water conditions.
Ensure the safety of passengers and crew members on board.
Maintain and inspect the boat’s mechanical systems and equipment.
Perform routine maintenance checks.
Monitor weather conditions and make decisions regarding safe navigation.
Consult charts and weather reports.
Communicate effectively with passengers and provide exceptional guest service.
Manage the loading and unloading of passengers.
Manage and maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the boat.
Properly and safely fender, moor, and anchor boat.
Maintain any required logs.
Outfit and maintain proper safety equipment.
Direct maintenance on the boat as needed.
Skills/Knowledge Required
Proven boat handling experience as a Boat Captain.
Excellent management skills to oversee the operation of the boat and ensure smooth sailing.
Effectively communicate with passengers.
Familiarity with maritime laws, regulations, and safety procedures
Follow all safety protocols and regulations.
First Aid/CPR required.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Expected pay range: $25 per hour.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Shift type: weekday and weekend shifts are required, holidays.
