Executive Alliance is pleased to represent our client who is an industry leader known for engineering, manufacturing and customizing armored vehicles for clients in 60+ countries around the world. They are located in greater Charlotte, North Carolina.


They are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Fabrications to join their team in Shelby, NC and contribute to their continued success.


JOB SUMMARY:


The ideal Manufacturing Engineer, Fabrications will plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in a manufacturing plant.


ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:


- Develop best practices, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods for assembly, fabrication and cutting departments. Train employees in these methods.

- Develop weld and assembly jigs and fixturing.

- Develop and maintain multi-level bill of materials; communicate changes using Manufacturing Change Order Process.

- Complete time studies for continuous improvement.

- Develop schedules for assembly, fabrication and cutting departments.

- Lead Kaizen events in various manufacturing areas.

- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions. Research and develop project cost.

- Support estimating department with daily requests.

- Write capital expenditure requests and justification.

- Support Engineering Order process meetings and implementation through Manufacturing Change Order Process.

- Update or write manufacturing work instructions for existing or new assemblies and fabrication using processes in place. Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements and workflow. Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

- Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards. Support production supply requirements (supplies, tools, tool repair, etc.).

- Confer with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

- Work closely with Production Manager and supervisors to support the goals of the company.

- Will apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

Due to the nature of the facility and manufacturing subject matter, US citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain a security clearance.


Education/Experience


Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Qualities / Experience:


• Experience working in a weld fabrication environment, especially MIG welding

• Products to include complete systems with welded, machined and purchase parts assembled together to produce a finished piece of 'equipment'.

• Experience reviewing assembly drawings to provide shop floor guidance for efficient start up of production runs

• Interface between the shop floor and Engineering for drawing changes

• Blue print reading

• Knowledge to create shop floor routings to produce parts

• Basic understanding of Welding, Forming and Press Brake

• Strong computer skills

• Self motivated



Desired


• Experience setting up production lines for short production runs of 200 or less 'fabricated assemblies'

• Solid Works experience

• Experience designing tooling / fixtures for weldments

• Hands on experience in welding/forming/machining
