Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer II to join the Data Center Power & Control Division Team in Reno, NV. Under general supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor, the Manufacturing Engineer II will plan, design, and optimize manufacturing processes. This position will provide technical expertise to develop practical solutions for manufacture, testing, or improvement of company products.
What Will You Do?
- Develop, optimize, and implement manufacturing methods and processes through various functions (e.g., line balancing, general assembly flows, process flows).
- Coordinate new product introduction initiatives throughout Operations both at the contract manufacturers and STI.
- Create, update and enhance manufacturing processes and documentation.
- Review assembly process of new and existing product to maximize production efficiency and reduce cost.
- Generate ECOs and complete ECO implementations according to established processes, providing implementation requirements and due dates.
- Determine and establish labor and assembly time standards.
- Lead and participate in value engineering initiatives to drive product, process, cost, quality, and delivery improvements.
- Support and address daily production issues related to BoM and sales order details though use of Company ERP systems; review issues and evaluate possible short- and long-term solutions.
- Resolve Bill of Materials and routing errors in Company ERP system.
- Participate in both internal and external audits.
- Promote positive company user relations by projecting a courteous, helpful attitude and assisting employees when appropriate.
- Display original thinking and creativity; Meet challenges with resourcefulness; Generate suggestions for improving work; Develop innovative approaches and ideas.
- Display willingness to make decisions; Exhibit sound and accurate judgment; Support and explain reasoning for decisions; Include appropriate people in decision-making process (specifically Department Managers); Make timely decisions.
- Execute manufacturing engineering assignments that involve advanced analysis.
- Influence change to products through the application of Design for Manufacturability.
- Advocate the application and implementation of Lean Manufacturing techniques and processes.
- Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing technology.
- Assist in capital expenditure proposals (project definition, quotes, procurement, coordination, and implementation).
- Drive companywide process improvement initiatives.
- Develop tooling and fixtures for manufacturing process.
- Train and develop entry level manufacturing engineers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years manufacturing engineering experience in a high-volume production environment, preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Previous 2D and 3D CAD Design experience.
- Professional working proficiency in Spanish and English required.
- Ability to coordinate engineering projects and demonstrate engineering technical expertise to a team.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups in the Company including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales.
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
- Project management skills including planning, organizing, meeting facilitation and coordinating tasks.
- Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook/Access).
- This position will require 25% travel (approximately 1 week a month). Applicant must have or be able to obtain and maintain permission to travel to the USA and Mexico.

- Work environment is fast-paced and priorities can shift quickly.

- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
