Responsibilities:

• Senior role

• Serve as a lead public health epidemiology/informaticist SME for the CDC NBS Modernization Project

• Have a great understanding and knowledge of NBS 6 system and user and technical pain points surrounding the legacy system and reporting data to CDC

• Assist in defining the product's strategy, product vision, roadmap, prioritization, goals, and initiatives (alongside the product lead)

• Inform and work with a cross-functional team of product managers, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to meet the desires of end users.

• Serve as a lead epidemiologist analyst in the ideation, design, and development of a modern disease surveillance system that meets the needs of public health and STLTs

• Support technology transformation and help inform process improvements for a mission-critical system

• Help team members understand traditional and non-traditional public health data, public health data sources, public health common practices, how public health operates, how grants function within a STLT, how data in sent to CDC, be able to share your expertise in the public health space

• Research or share knowledge of potential STLTs configurations, customizations, and technological landscape

• Aid in the coordination, streamlining, and quality control of data collection (how to get clean data out of NBS)

• Act as a liaison between the IT team, CDC, and STLTs (public health agencies and entities)

• Develop innovative solutions for operational and strategic changes

• Effectively communicate knowledge, findings, insights and plans to cross-functional team members and key stakeholders

• Conducts user trainings on a variety of topics related to the NBS system if needed

Required qualifications:

• Possess demonstrable knowledge in public health, common STLT disease surveillance systems (knowledge with NBS6/Classic a plus, Maven, Epitrax, etc.)

• Possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology/Public Health/Informatics (or relevant)

• 7-10 years of experience working with NBS, CDC, Federal, State, Local, or related public health entities.

• Strong understanding of health-related practices, rules, data standards, regulations, and policies

• At least 5 years of specific work or training experience in disease tracking and surveillance.

• At least 5 years or more of relevant hands-on experience in an senior level role for a STLT

• Able to resolve highly complex requirements conflicts through effective stakeholder engagement.

• Works proactively with research and designers to solve complex problems

• Able to evaluate current processes and create improvements based on system requirements

• Able to document, communicate, and train on systems, processes, and procedures

• Able to effectively present options and recommendations and influence stakeholders.

Location:

• 100% Remote


Employment Options:

• Full-time

• Contract, up to 20 hours a week (if desired)


Travel:

• Up to 10-20% if needed
