Laboratory Research Operations Specialist

Provides instruction and training for undergraduate students on techniques for laboratory equipment. Oversees the daily operation and personnel in teaching labs; ensures teaching labs are properly equipped and maintained. Develops and maintains a safety program for labs and establishes procedures for handling emergencies. Acts as a role model for exemplary laboratory practice and safety. Coordinates lab availability, preparedness and teaching schedules with instructors and faculty. Sets up and cleans up lab for teaching; assists instructors to facilitate high quality instruction. Recommends and purchases equipment needed for teaching and ensures equipment is available and functional for upcoming experiments, maintains equipment in working order. Responsible for asset disposal, tagging, photographing and annual internal audits of asset management.

Individual will Supply stocks for research materials, and regular equipment maintenance for the laboratory; Support students in the research group as an advisor and leader in experiments and communications, in addition to assisting with the ADA office to provide hands-on research support for students who require accommodations; and support the preparation of research grants, manuscripts, and communications of the research group. Provides aid to the group in administrative tasks, including trainings, coordinating with collaborative projects and teams, and both pre- and post-award documentation; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Level Degree with a Major in Chemical Engineering or Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Required Qualifications

Required Experience: Experience in operation and maintenance of lab equipment; familiarity with regulations related to safe laboratory practices, excellent communication skills is required.

Desired Experience: Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve, experience working with graduate and undergraduate students is desired.
