Summary

A development technician for electronics dielectric build-up films, rigid, flex and rigid/flex circuitry development. The ideal candidate will have some background in materials science, polymer science, chemistry, mechanical or chemical engineering. Create prototype parts by casting films or using molds such that mechanical, electrical, thermal characterization can be conducted. This position will be developed for a higher-level role commensurate with their ability and motivation level. The candidate will operate in the AGC MMA Product Development Laboratory in Tempe, AZ.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • This position will support product development (R&D) as well as manufacturing operations
  • The candidate may be expected to travel to third party materials coating facilities within the USA and support in a manufacturing role. Limited travel to Korea, Singapore, or Japan could be possible
  • May be required to support failure analysis efforts of rigid circuit boards used in high frequency applications and high-speed flex circuitry
  • Day-to-day responsibilities include mixing small scale laboratory resin batches and creating hand coatings for analytical testing
  • This candidate will coordinate efforts with the Engineering team to complete the successful scale-up mixing of large batch resin solutions and manufacturing capabilities. May interface with Quality Control, Manufacturing, Shipping, Sales/Marketing and equipment vendors as necessary
  • The candidate will be expected to assist in the quality control and quality assessment/ characterization of all material manufactured by a third party.
  • Utilizepersonal protective equipment as required, must always operate in a safe manner and notify the R&D analytical lab manager of unsafe situations. Assist in development, review, and documentation of safety procedures. Participate in group and site safety activities

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Some college courses related to Chemistry/Materials Science/Engineering are preferred, more preferred is a related bachelor’s degree. Master’s degrees will be considered
  • Industry experience will be heavily considered in lieu of advanced degree
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply for this position
  • Experience mixing and characterizing thermoset resin formulations and composites for the electronics industry. Experience with printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication processes will also be considered
  • Prior work experience with high volume manufacturing of electronics materials and coatings of any type (paints/adhesives) or work in the R&D industry
  • Experience using the following instrumentation: TMA, DMA, DSC, TGA, FT-IR, Rheology, Particle Size Analysis, Dk/Df analysis, and/or mechanical analysis
  • Usage of basic analysis software and utilization of Microsoft Excel is a positive
  • Good laboratory practices and safe chemical handling is required

Language Skills

The ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively in the English language is required for all roles.

Required Safety Equipment/Training

AGC follows all required OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standard industry guidelines in-regards to the use of personal protective equipment and safety training required for the specific job function.

  • May be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
  • Ability to Stand, walk, sit, use of hands to handle, feel, or grasp objects, tools, or controls
  • Reach and lift with hands and arms; lift/move/carry objects up to 25 lbs. in weight
  • Climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch
  • Ability to talk and hear for safety on the production floor
  • Visual ability to see things in close vision, distance vison, color vision, peripheral vison, depth perception and ability to adjust focus as needed

PAY

$22.00/hr

WORK SCHEDULE/OVERTIME

Business hours. Overtime as required.
