Client Overview: Our client is a well-known cosmetics company with an impressive portfolio of beauty brands.


Junior Packaging Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, manage, and update BOM for new and existing products including artwork updates, material changes, new tertiary pack outs, and facilitate mechanical routing and supplier proof approval.
  • Oversee Pack standards from suppliers (components only) by reviewing, approving, and distributing to Quality teams and Packaging for retains.
  • Input primary package data into CAPE Pallet software and specify optimal packer/ shipper sizing options as well as configure palletization patterns in CAPE for current and new products.
  • Confirm and coordinate packer/ shipper specification with manufacturer and CM/ Manufacturing site.
  • Confirm technical elements on mechanicals (dieline, weight claim, color/ process, codes) and approve consistency of proof matching corresponding mechanicals.
  • Post dielines (as approved by engineer) into artwork system and route artwork to suppliers according to launch timeline.
  • Manage approval process of color and defect range boards with brand partners.
  • Gather target submissions from Marketing for molded and printed components (color, texture, finish) and confirm all proper color range boards are approved with the final color and entire design ranges.
  • Meet deadlines for all required Packaging actions and manage value analysis projects (supplier changes, color/ finish/ texture changes, tertiary packaging changes).
  • Manage all creation and revision of new component specifications to suppliers (primary, secondary, tertiary).
  • Review technical engineering drawings for components and assemblies.


Junior Packaging Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Package Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline (mechanical, material science, etc).
  • 1-3 years of department experience in a product packaging environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of molding processes, molds, resins decorations and package assembly methods.
  • Experience with CAD software and 3D printing is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of Marketing briefs and Packaging definition to provide guidance in mitigating technical risks in achieving Marketing concept.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office specifically Excel and Pivot table functionalities.
  • Excellent problem solving skills to take preemptive actions in managing packaging defects.
