The Department of Earth, Planetary, and Space Sciences is an academic unit within the College of Letters and Science with an exciting and expansive research program. The department is looking for an Engineer to fulfill a vital position in the department.


Required:

  • 2+ years relevant experience Familiarity with PC based printed circuit board design and simulation tools (Altium Designer or similar). Familiarity with digital electronic interfaces and design, such as FPGAs and microcontrollers.
  • Demonstrated experience with low-power analog circuit design and associated board layouts.
  • Demonstrated experience with sensor-based (or similar) signal acquisition and processing applications (either analog or digital), low-noise signal amplification and power systems.
  • Attention to detail and ability to translate scientific project requirements into robust engineering solutions.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques on-the-fly and be resourceful in solving interdisciplinary engineering challenges.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electronic systems designed by others, using common laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal analyzers
  • Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with analysis software (LabView or similar)
  • Interpersonal skills to work and communicate effectively with others, verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with modern software engineering tools for issue tracking, documentation, and version control.
  • Ability to maintain regular on-time hours and schedule.


Preferred:

  • Experience with aerospace design and tests methods; component de-rating and appropriate selection based on project requirements.
  • Exposure to radio frequency circuit design and application.
