Jr. Quality Engineer

Job Summary

The Quality Engineer I is responsible for verification that product has gone through the inspection process products ensuring the product meets all quality standards and products that leave the facility to go to our customer are of the finest quality and with zero defects.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure compliance with departmental standard operating procedures and AS9100 procedures
  • Develop and implement Quality processes and procedures using Lean Manufacturing processes and procedures
  • Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation
  • Track root cause of problems and perform corrective actions
  • Develop and write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Review quality trends with customers and suppliers
  • Read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures  Perform internal and external audits
  • Review Manufacturing planning, engineering change requests and purchase orders to ensure quality requirements are met
  • Ensure compliance with departmental standard operating procedures and AS9100 procedures
  • Maintain and control the CARs/NCRs for completion
  • Fill out customer Quality Surveys and develop the quality checklists
  • Customer and product documentation preparation
  • Prepare reports and qualification packages
  • Perform internal audits, address and resolve the audit findings
  • Report statistics and metrics for internal audits
  • Maintain and control the QCBD findings for completion that are delinquent and not in conformance
  • Publish metrics for the Quality Assurance department and the Quality Assurance System
  • Carries out day-to-day work following the departments continuous improvement plan

Minimum Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Quality Engineer
  • Or at the discretion of the hiring manager

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Field or related field required.  Or at the discretion of the hiring manager

Certifications/Licenses

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (CSSBG) and Lean Manufacturing and Quality Control credentials, NADCAP Certification and PPAP Certification preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of aerospace, and ISO specifications and regulations
  • Effectively able to use calipers, scales, gages and other calibration instruments
  • Can interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Understand GD&T
  • Familiar with 5-S principles and SPC
  • Computer literacy required, specifically MS Suite
  • Able to work within specific time lines meeting critical deadlines
  • Must be accurate and detailed with minimum errors
  • Perform job with minimum of supervision
  • Work within a team environment
  • Respond with sensitivity to people of diverse perspectives
