Seeking a passionate and driven intern to spend 12 weeks assisting in the redesign of our wireless infrastructure. As an intern, you will work closely with members of the infrastructure team, plants, and various stakeholders to assist in scoping, planning, and presenting a modernized wireless infrastructure for budget approval. Primary responsibilities will include all aspects of scoping, design and planning for an enterprise-wide wireless infrastructure upgrade. This position will help design a modern wireless infrastructure that will allow growth and technology adoption for the next 10 years. This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact by designing a solution that will enable business growth and advancement and having an immediate impact on efficiency and productivity. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, solid technical background, a desire to learn and be challenged.
Responsibilities:
Assist in building an RFP and subsequent vendor recommendation for new wireless solution
Research new technologies and potential solutions
Conduct heatmaps around the campus and mark existing and new AP locations on a map
Meet with vendors and review technologies, answer questions, and accompany on site tours
Work closely with infrastructure team to
Develop RFP
Review responses
Develop and present an official recommendation to leadership
Perform stakeholder interviews to gather requirements and use cases
Perform discovery, site surveys, and solution planning in building an RFP and subsequent vendor recommendation for new wireless solution
Qualifications:
Working towards a degree in Computer Engineering, Networking, or related field
Knowledge of wireless technologies, heatmapping, writing and public speaking
