Annual Salary: $82,929.60 - $100,796.80
Insurance Analyst II positions evaluate commercial insurance, certificates of insurance, policy language, and appropriate insurance limits; administers the City’s comprehensive insurance program; assists the Office of Special Events with insurance analysis and proof of coverage for host organizations applying for a special events permit; reviews insurance documents submitted to the City to ensure compliance with City requirements; determines and analyzes liability exposure; interprets and assesses unique situations for insurance and level of risk; conducts analysis to evaluate the City’s self-insurance programs; negotiates contract terms related to insurance; advises on insurance coverage; reviews insurance documents for compliance with City requirements; reviews and analyzes contracts and agreements to determine insurance requirements; reviews and approves insurance documents submitted by vendors and contractors based on insurance requirements, as outlined in the contract or agreement; determines if required limits are adequate for the type of exposure, select the proper insurance specifications or requirements, and makes recommendations regarding insurance coverage and limits; identifies exposure and recommends insurance coverage to transfer the risk from the City to the vendor; compiles and submits underwriting information for City insurance program renewal and coverage placement; works with City’s broker to renew or market the City’s line of coverage; provides insurance training to City Departments; provides guidance to departments related to insurance and provides certificates of insurance related to contract requirements; maintains the City’s property schedule; and perform other duties as assigned.
Notes:
Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases:
- 2% effective 1/1/25
- 5% effective 7/1/25
Minimum Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: Two years of full-time professional-level experience in commercial insurance work which MAY include knowledge of Workers Compensation, General Liability, Property, Automobile, Crime, Cyber, and Contractors Pollution Liability insurance coverage.
LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire.
HIGHLY DESIRABLE:
- Certification as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Association in Risk Management (ARM), and/or Property and Casualty License.
