Job Description:

Responsible for the administration and operations of the District Student Information System (PowerSchool), maintenance of associated servers (Windows), and integration of applications under the direction of the CCI 5J Technology Director. Oversees the implementation, updating, troubleshooting and enhancement of school district-based programs and applications and ensures the effective use of the Student Information System (SIS). Management of other related data systems as required.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS, preferably in a technology-related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in IT or related field, preferably in an education setting.

Preferred Experience with:

  • Student/information record systems (PowerSchool).
  • Rostering (Clever) and LMS (Schoology/Google Classroom) applications.
  • Various API and authorization protocols.
  • Microsoft Windows servers and services including Active Directory, group policy, file and print, IIS, as well as associated scripting languages (PowerShell).
  • Virtualization with Hyper-V.
  • SQL or other databases.
  • Developing and leading training sessions with users.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate student data entry across the district, including user rights management, annual database rollup utilities and corresponding software set-up.
  • Maintain working knowledge of required data fields in student data systems.
  • Develop and communicate district protocols and procedures for student data entry and common database practices to all users of the system, especially with regards to data accuracy, efficiency, and security.
  • Work with the CCI 5J Technology Director and 5J District Superintendent to keep current on State and Federal laws regarding student information (including student data privacy).
  • Assist in rostering students for approved online learning curriculum and other educational services.
  • Develop, maintain, and deliver training for staff on district SIS procedures on a regular basis, including, but not limited to PowerTeacher, ParentPortal, and Registration.
  • Assist with State and Federal reporting requirements through the information available in the SIS application.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to ticket escalations from technical support staff.
  • Work with CCI 5J Technology Team to support the district identity management service, process account changes, test updates, and perform maintenance tasks.
  • Work with CCI 5J Technology Team to manage groups, accounts and permissions in Active Directory and Google Workspace for Education.
  • Use computing concepts, documented procedures, and knowledge of the school district’s systems and application software to resolve second-level and third-level computing problems and provide consulting to students, teachers, staff, and other clients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely incident logs in the approved ticket management system.
  • Assist with account creation for other district systems (Clever, Schoology, Tienet/Special Programs, Traversa, Mealtime, Destiny, RevTrak, etc.).
  • Monitor and manage virtual servers and services.
  • Assist in data center administration, monitoring and implementation, including the support of MS Servers, storage arrays and related technology.
  • Assist other technology staff as needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality of District and student records.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a service-oriented attitude.

Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

In-depth skills and abilities to understand and apply complex, technical subject matter.

Knowledge of:

  • basic computer programming logic sufficient to write scripts, data queries, and automatic spreadsheet calculations.
  • fundamental database concepts such as Boolean logic, data query techniques, and data analysis.
  • virtualized infrastructures including management software and hardware.

Ability to:

  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • prioritize work assignments to assure timely and effective completion.
  • develop, compile, and maintain confidential records.
  • create documentation as it pertains to training.
  • conduct staff training and support in a variety of environments such as in-person instruction, video conferencing and recorded video.
  • provide and promote excellent customer service.
