Your Responsibilities
As the Director of HR/People, you'll shape the strategic direction of our HR policies and initiatives, ensuring we attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
Key Goals:
- Drive HR Strategies: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with our business objectives and mission-driven culture.
- Innovative Recruitment: Lead talent acquisition strategies to attract top talent.
- Team Development: Champion development programs and performance management systems.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with labor regulations and industry standards.
- Employee Relations: Resolve complex issues with tact and empathy.
- Compensation and Benefits: Enhance and manage competitive programs.
Skills Needed:
- Alignment with Meru Health's values and mission.
- Exceptional leadership and strategic thinking.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge of HR best practices and labor laws.
- Proven ability to drive HR initiatives in a high-growth environment.
- High emotional intelligence and problem-solving skills.
- 7+ years in HR/People Operations, with 3+ years in leadership.
- Experience in startups or high-growth environments, ideally in tech or healthcare.
- Success in building and scaling HR functions.
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Advanced degrees or HR certifications (SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are highly desirable.
- Proficiency with HR software and systems.
Metrics:
- Improved employee satisfaction and engagement scores.
- Reduced employee turnover.
- Efficient and scalable HR processes.
- Enhanced recruitment metrics.
- 90 Days: Understand Meru Health's culture, mission, and goals. Build strong relationships and assess current HR policies.
- 6 Months: Implement HR initiatives that drive engagement and retention. Improve recruitment and onboarding processes.
- 1 Year: Scale HR functions to support growth. Achieve significant improvements in satisfaction and performance metrics. Position Meru Health as a premier employer.
US TOTAL REWARDS PACKAGE:

- Compensation:
- $170,000 - $220,000
- Generous stock options
- Benefits:
- 100% employer paid Medical, Dental, Vision, & Life Insurance for full-time employees (50% for dependents)
- Flexible Spending Account and Health Savings Account options available (HSA eligible employees will receive Meru's annual contributions of $1,500 for single enrollees and $3,000 for enrollees with dependents)
- Paid Time Off:
- 15 US holidays annually
- 20 days of vacation your first year of employment, then 25 days of vacation thereafter
- 8 weeks of parental leave for all new parents and an additional 8 weeks for new birthing parents
- Hybrid Work Benefits:
- Internet & phone expense reimbursement
- $250 Onboarding Home Office stipend
- Work from San Mateo, CA Office 3 days per week
