We're currently looking for an HR Specialist 1 to join our team in Canton, Mississippi.

The Human Resource Specialist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including workplace investigations, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Will collect, compile, and analyze HR data, metrics, and statistics, and apply this data to make recommendations related to recruitment, retention, and legal compliance. This position is heavy on employee relations in a manufacturing environment, which can be a noisy environment that is fast-paced.

  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Provides coaching and guidance to employees and managers.
  • Implements and conducts the onboarding and off-boarding of employees.
  • Handles complex and sensitive employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Attends and participates in employee corrective action meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Identifies and recommends solutions to trending issues as a result of employee engagement.
  • Performs project-related and process improvement activities.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Analyzes data and statistics for trends and patterns with attention to recruitment, hiring practices, motivation, turnover, and compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
  • Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture including suggestions to attract and hire qualified candidates, to motivate and retain employees, to address staffing issues, and to maintain legal compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • May guide and/or assist with performance, benefit, and compensation review and evaluation processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Knowledge and Skills:

  • Manufacturing or distribution experience highly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations preferred.
  • Experience with Excel including use of functions, formulas, pivot tables, charts, and graphs
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS, payroll, and similar employee management software or HRIS systems.
  • Proficiency in or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.

Years of Experience:

  • At least 2 years of human resources experience preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.
