Education

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred; or equivalent experience/combined education

Responsibilities

  • Sustaining engineering, electronic component life-cycle management, instrument field complaint investigation and documentation to support these efforts.
  • Root cause analysis tools to troubleshoot various levels of electro-mechanical sub-systems and instruments.
  • Contribute inputs on a diverse cross functional/cross site team and external contract manufacturers and engineers.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the development, implementation and effectiveness of Abbott Quality Management System per ISO, FDA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Understands and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the
  • improper performance of their specific job; has awareness of device defects that may occur in their area of responsibility, including product design, verification and validation, manufacturing and testing activities
  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s
  • policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred; or equivalent experience/combined
  • education
  • Conducts measurements specified in test plans, documents and tabulates results, and
  • provides engineering test reports as required.
  • Experience in electronics design for test, manufacturing and assembly with an
  • understanding of design impact on EMC, ESD and Immunity.
  • Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and
  • follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems and sub-systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Generally 3+ years of experience in medical device
  • Excellent understanding of electrical and mechanical designs and components, and their
  • interactions as a system to meet system performance requirements.
  • Skills in programming tools such as Arduino and LabView to support experiments and
  • implementation are helpful.
  • Experience with supporting a lab to ensure procedures are followed, cleanliness
  • standards are applied and lab activities are in compliance with quality procedures.
