Graduate Assistant Athletics Communication

Serves as a graduate assistant in athletic communications. performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications or Senior Director of Athletics.

Reports to: Director of Athletic Communications/Senior Director of Athletics

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assists in the creation and production of engaging content for various digital platforms, including social media, website, and email newsletters.
  • Drafts press releases, feature stories, and game recaps highlighting student-athletes, coaches, and athletic programs.
  • Captures and edit photos and videos to enhance storytelling and promotion efforts.
  • Monitors media coverage and compile press clippings for internal and external distribution.
  • Provides support during home athletic events, including setup, statistics, and media accommodations.
  • Assists in live event coverage through social media updates, live-tweeting, and post-game recaps.
  • Compiles, updates, and distributes statistical information for various sports teams.
  • Utilizes statistical software and databases to analyze trends and performance metrics.
  • Performs general office duties such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and maintaining filing systems.
  • Assists with scheduling, meetings, and travel arrangements as needed.
  • Supports special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Director of Athletic Communications or Senior Director of Athletics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
