What We’re Looking For

WC+A is in need of an engaged fractional/full-time CFO/Controller for WC+A and another confidential company. This opportunity will add up to a full-time role split between two companies. The CFO/Controller will drive financial controls and results, offering consistency, timeliness, responsiveness, and accuracy of finances and reporting.

This role will be hybrid with 2-3 days in office from either our Culver City and/or West Hollywood office.

How You’ll Contribute

  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial policies to safeguard the company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability
  • Enhance, implement, and streamline financial data models, reporting systems, dashboards, and performance metrics to identify business trends and client profitability and guide data-driven decision-making
  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and analysis to the CEO/Principal and strategic leadership group
  • Deliver weekly tracking and reports
  • Collaborate actively with the CEO/Principal on financial matters of strategic value, identify solutions, as needed, and aid in their execution
  • Report on and anticipate unfavorable financial results or variances, conduct research, and offer preliminary explanations and appropriate countermeasures
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to pinpoint potential areas for improvement
  • Serve as the day-to-day banking relationship manager
  • Prepare and process payroll
  • Direct the design, maintenance and monitoring of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and the general ledger
  • Develop and lead the annual and quarterly budgeting process in partnership with CEO/Principal and department directors. Suggest improvements to current planning processes, as needed
  • Oversee the preparation of local, state, and federal income tax returns as the day-to-day CPA contact and prepare and file the annual city business tax and personal property tax returns
  • Ensure that all accounts, ledgers, accruals, etc., are accurate and reconciled, safeguarding compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop and manage the appropriate (1) capitalization policy for fixed assets and (2) policies and procedures for controlling and monitoring expenses
  • Ensure internal controls, policies and procedures are consistent with state and federal law, compliance plans, and HIPAA
  • Responsible for securing and monitoring adequate insurance coverage for liability, workers’ compensation, E&O, and other necessary coverage
  • Review and manage leasing and financial agreements
  • Administer the organization’s 401(k) retirement plan and ensure compliance with COBRA, IRS, ERISA and other related regulations
  • Collaborate with and provide leadership and counsel to the Human Resources department specific to the financial modeling and design of group health, dental, vision, and disability plans, etc
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • 10+ years of experience in the finance field
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Quickbooks
  • Ability to balance longer-term strategic issues with day-to-day tactical project issues
  • Leadership and management skills, including the ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and staff
  • Ability to be mentored and growth mindset
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented, has good follow-through, can multitask, and works well under tight deadlines
  • Ability to approach a problem from multiple viewpoints
  • Ability to work through problems with a team that values collaboration and feedback
  • Ability to think beyond the task at hand and identify blockers and improvements

Compensation Expectations:

The starting base compensation range for this position is $177,516 to $289,162 annually. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s certifications, location, prior experience, and qualifications.

We benchmarked this position against Aon Radford's "Finance & Accounting - Controller - Director (M5)" role and the "General - Finance -Executive 1 (E1)" role, which closely resembles the level and responsibilities of this role, for the Los Angeles area in 2023.
