EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Minimum High School or its equivalent or any combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES:
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficient in MS Work, Excel, Access, Power Point and the Internet.
Operate a variety of office machines, including, copier, fax machine, calculator and computer using standard work processing, spreadsheet and data inquiry software.
Ability to work independently.
Reliable transportation.
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist the New York City team with functional support to include event management, volunteer management, and outreach to potential volunteers and supporters.
Assist with signature events: Westchester Polar Plunge and Staten Island Polar Plunge.
Learn organization software in order to support.
Assist in the management of records for the department.
Prepare event documents identifying all steps taken during the planning process, along with timelines and copies of materials created.
In addition to the responsibilities identified, intern may be requested to perform other duties and/or responsibilities, not included above.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Position requires working both standing and sitting. Must be able to lift and carry light loads (5-30 pounds for short distances, approximately one block)
FLEXIBLE HOURS: Occasional travel and weekend/evening duties are available. Must be able to attend Westchester Polar Plunge (November 9, 2024) and Staten Island Polar Plunge (December 8, 2024).
