What We Do:

Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer Lifecraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 1,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 20,000 youth ages 4-18 annually in and from 110+ Title I schools across LA County!

Role Overview:

As the Events and Partnerships Manager, you will be a central figure within our Business Development team, playing a critical role in representing Woodcraft Rangers at external events, including conferences and various community gatherings throughout the city and state. Your responsibilities will not only involve attending these events but also creatively designing and implementing both external and internal events to enhance engagement opportunities. This role requires you to be the external face of the agency, actively engaging with key stakeholders, community leaders, and other vital groups to bring them closer to our mission. Your efforts in relationship cultivation and event management are essential for expanding our agency's influence and reach, supporting our main goal of integrating our programs more deeply into the communities we serve and enhancing our overall impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Event Planning and Execution: Plan, organize, and execute engaging events that represent Woodcraft Rangers at external gatherings such as conferences and community events, ensuring each event aligns with the agency's strategic goals and mission.
  • Relationship Cultivation: Actively engage with and represent the agency to stakeholders, keyholders, and various communities, becoming the external face of the agency and forging strong relationships that open doors to new opportunities.
  • Strategic Representation: Support and lead the execution of presentations and booth setups at third-party events, ensuring the agency's mission and impact are communicated effectively and accurately.
  • Internal Coordination: Collaborate with different departments within the agency to gather content and resources necessary for events, ensuring a cohesive and unified representation of our mission and goals.
  • Logistics Management: Handle the logistical aspects of event planning, including venue selection, material preparation, time coordination, and setup, ensuring seamless execution of all events.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Create and implement internal events to increase engagement opportunities with local stakeholders such as school boards and chambers of commerce, enhancing internal community relations.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of events and outreach activities, using feedback to improve future strategies and ensure alignment with the agency’s objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in event planning, community outreach, or a related field, with a proven track record of successful event execution and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working within non-profit, educational, or community-oriented organizations is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing large-scale events from conception through to execution, including budget management and logistical coordination.
  • Prior experience in developing strategic partnerships and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders such as local officials, community leaders, and business partners.
  • Experience as a public spokesperson or in a role requiring regular public speaking and presentation delivery at large events or conferences.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments and the ability to navigate and respect diverse social landscapes, enhancing community engagement and inclusivity.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively as required for attending events, conferences, and meetings across the city and state, reflecting the needs of a travel-heavy role.
  • Valid California driver’s license, proof of auto insurance, and an annual DMV check.
  • Familiarity with the educational and cultural landscape of high-need areas in Los Angeles; bilingual abilities in English and Spanish are a plus.
  • Must hold valid LIVE Scan, TB Clearance, and CPR Certification, or be willing to obtain them.

  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook) and other necessary computer programs.
  • Capable of adjusting strategies and approaches in real-time to meet changing needs or unexpected challenges during events.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for crafting clear, impactful messages and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coordinate with multiple departments, and manage external vendors to achieve event goals.
  • Proficient in identifying problems quickly and finding effective solutions, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Creative and innovative thinking to design engaging and memorable events that effectively convey the agency’s mission and values.
  • Proficient in using digital tools and platforms for event management, stakeholder engagement, and performance tracking.

Work Environment and Schedule:

  • The typical noise level of a standard work environment.
  • Stable internet access is required for effective work-from-home performance.

Status: Full-time

Salary Range: $66,000 to $76,000 per year
