Event Sales Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION


The Event Sales Manager is a dynamic position working with external clients and internal operations staff and management. This position is responsible for generating event revenue through corporate or private events for companies or individuals. They play a key role in the success of an event-focused business. Negotiating with clients, tracking the event sales pipeline & revenue, networking, and delivering event budget objectives are all tasks that the event manager will be responsible for. 

All events booked should be beer & Mixologia centric, promote brand &image, and increase client loyalty through enhanced experiences. 


DUTIES


Duties/Responsibilities:

An Event Manager duties and responsibilities center around selling, contracting and successfully planning the execution of an event, prior to handoff to the tap room GM and Chef. This role requires the ability to communicate well with customers and staff paying careful attention to details. Event Managers assume many duties before and during the hosting of an event, including meeting with clients to assess and conceptualize needs and desires for a variety of events, selling the venue, including client walk throughs of the space, food and beverage and experiences, making all arrangements necessary to execute the client’s vision, addressing any issues during and post event, maintaining internal standards, partnerships with vendors and coordinating with internal staff closely to plan the set-up, execution, and cleanup of events.


• Recommending an events budget, and managing within approved plans

• Building and maintaining customer relationships

• Managing the sales pipeline on Triple Seat

• Negotiating contracts

• Identifying and targeting potential clients

• Assisting in creating and maintaining operational standards

• Conducting data analysis to identify trends and propose revenue-generating initiatives, including events pricing

• Gathering information about the client’s objectives, budget and preferences

• Listening attentively to customer requests and keeping records of these requests

• Planning the event from beginning to end according to the needs, target audience, and goals  

• Assisting with concrete suggestions to improve the event's success

• Providing advice about menus, decor and entertainment

• Ensuring all the operations are harmonized by creating a schedule of activities for staff to follow during events

• Overseeing all components of the event prior to the day of the event, ensuring that the event runs successfully and stepping up to fix any issues that may arise

• Communicating with vendors and suppliers if extras are needed ei: audiovisual equipment, security, music etc. 

• Reviewing bills and approving payments

• Driving business and upselling La Tropical beer and Mixologia products

• Ensuring the event complies with insurance, health and safety standards

• Assessing the success of the event and generating reports

• Respond to leads in a timely manner

• Works with GM and Chef on Menu pricing 

• Works with marketing to implement plans to generate event revenue

• Obtains price quotes for vendor services

• Manages all administrative duties and details associated with the event including financial operations by invoicing in TripleSeat, collecting all payment, and distributing Banquet Event Orders & Kitchen Sheets

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a complex role that requires a person to juggle multiple factors at once while driving the entire event toward success. Candidates who possess the following qualifications may be well-suited for work as an Event Sales Manager:

• Proficient with Microsoft Office 

• A basic understanding of event management software TripleSeat

• Basic accounting and budgetary skills 

• The ability to identify potential legal liabilities and take steps to mitigate them

• Good networking and customer service skills


Education and Experience:

• 4-year Hospitality degree

• At least three years of experience in event planning, or a related field

• Experience in hospitality is preferred.

• Experience with TripleSeat or similar software system preferred

• A team player with leadership skills

• Demonstrated capacity to communicate successfully with persons from a wide range of socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

• Professional presenting abilities and a service-oriented style

• Capacity for problem-solving and diplomacy

• Ability to provide exceptional customer service

• Skills in written and verbal communication that are clear

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and administrative capabilities


Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time during events.

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

• Must be able to work a variety of hours, including weekends, in order to accommodate events.
