Estimator - Electrical Construction

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with experience in electrical construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing precise and comprehensive cost estimates that will aid management in bidding and price determination for various electrical construction projects. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, construction practices, and strong analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cost Data Collection:
• Gather and analyze historical cost data to develop estimates for current and future electrical construction projects.
• Client and Vendor Interaction:
• Consult with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss estimates and address any concerns or issues.
• Estimate Development:
• Create detailed cost estimates to assist management in planning, organizing, and scheduling electrical construction work.
• Document and Blueprint Analysis:
• Review blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate time, cost, materials, and labor estimates for electrical projects.
• Project Coordination:
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, and subcontractors on cost estimates and project scopes.
• Participate in walk-throughs, pre-bid meetings, and scope clarification sessions.
• Team Collaboration:
• Assist junior staff with take-offs and obtaining quotes from subcontractors.
• Escalate critical issues to the Preconstruction Manager and provide resolution recommendations.
• Bid and Contract Review:
• Review and analyze bid and contract documents to ensure a clear understanding of project scope and requirements.
• Budget and Conceptual Estimates:
• Develop budget estimates based on plans, specifications, and conceptual information for electrical projects.
• Project Scope Evaluation:
• Examine project plans to identify unique features or special requirements.
• Timely Bid Submission:
• Ensure bids are completed accurately and submitted on time to achieve project profitability.
• Estimating Data Preparation:
• Provide detailed estimating data, including drawings, specifications, and labor hours, to support project proposals.
• Pricing Adjustments:
• Determine adjustments for overtime, delays, and special project requirements.
• RFQ/RFP Document Preparation:
• Develop and prepare RFQ/RFP documents for subcontractor proposals and vendor bids.
• Internal Coordination:
• Lead internal kick-off meetings and maintain effective project information flow and documentation.
• Database Maintenance:
• Maintain and update the estimating database to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in the electrical construction industry.
• High School diploma or GED required; a Bachelor’s or Master’s in electrical engineering or construction management preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, and contract documentation.
• Proficiency in estimating software (Accubid, MS Word, and Excel).
