Youth Environmental is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to deliver hands-on environmental education programs to people of all ages and abilities and engage them in eco-action and connect them to the natural world, empowering them to enact change in their lives and the world around them!
The primary focus of this position is to deliver and grow YEA’s Experiential Science and Environmental Education Programs including Archaeology and Ecology, Fishing and Gardening in schools, for camps and clubs and during field trips.

Another exciting part of the position is to be the naturalist on adult eco-tours that include kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, everglades trips and bike tours.

Position is located in Broward County Florida. You must live in or near the county line.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience or a master’s degree in science, environmental science, education or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experiential or Environmental Education experience with delivering and developing programs for a variety of groups including schools, camps, garden clubs and adult groups.
• Experience in teaching outdoors in extreme weather including extreme heat and rainstorms.
• Is willing and comfortable teaching fishing, gardening, body systems and environmental programs taught to Florida State Standards, in facilitating environmental restorations and giving tours.
• Lifeguard or Rescue Diver Certified and current CPR (or willing to get this within the 90-day probationary period),
• Proficient with computers, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and basic smartphone apps,
• Self-motivated, works well autonomously and in teams, self-reliant.
• Self manages time, work priorities, training and continuous improvement.
• You must have the ability to be flexible and adapt to constantly fluid circumstances and schedules while keeping a positive attitude.

Job tasks:
• Deliver YEA’s in-person and virtual education programs successfully in allotted timeframe to Pre-K to Adult and special needs audiences.
• Promote programs to teachers, leaders and families through vendor fairs, outreaches, e-mails and phone calls.
• Be the primary point of contact between the client and scheduler for education programs and events.
• Follow through with clients, on e-mails and mailed contracts to ensure program confirmation and receipt of materials.
• Ensure new contacts are entered into appropriate databases.
• Teach fishing programs, clinics and/or birthday parties.
• Update calendar and online databases concurrently with accurate information upon scheduling or delivering programs.
• Take photos at events and programs and post on social media and photo sharing apps.
• Participate in continuing education classes to improve on the programs and teaching skills.
• Organize and maintain equipment in the warehouse.
• Transport program/event equipment in your own vehicle.
• Refill outreach and kit supplies.
• Purchase program supplies and equipment and submit receipts for reimbursement.
• Facilitate and teach at dune restorations, coordinate with Restoration Manager
• Write small grant application.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Is early for programs with plenty of time for set up and traffic.
• Grow and continuously improve the programs.
• Clients respond favorably.
• Autonomous with respect to performing job functions and learning new material for program enhancement.
• Focused on YEA and the program curriculum when teaching the programs or representing YEA.
• Builds relationships with clients and volunteers.
• Efficiently completes program and job objectives.
• Performs error free work and produces accurate work products in a timely fashion.
• Reliable and willing to go the extra mile without complaint.
• Works well with others.
• Reports issues and suggestions for improvement to supervisor immediately.
• Suggests and demonstrates solutions to problems, issues or improvements to programs and presents them to supervisor and at staff meetings.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively within the team and with clients.
• Maintains an overall positive attitude and demeanor.

Starting Salary: $35,000 includes 1-week paid vacation, paid holidays, flexible schedule, bonus program and mileage reimbursement. The position starts immediately.

Does require a couple Saturdays per month, rarely Sundays
