Purpose: The role of the Design Technician Level I entails entry level involvement in survey, engineering design, and mapping. Production of pipeline project related drawings and documents including right of way plats and descriptions, permit drawing packages per numerous agency specifications, project exhibits and details, and construction & as-built alignment sheets with supporting documents.
Work Schedule: Nominal 9 hours per day; Monday through Friday; Overtime may be required on short notice to attempt to meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities
Software experience a plus in: Civil 3D, CADWorx, Trimble Office, Excel
Work with and produce: points, alignments, surface models, profiles and profile views, develop styles and work with data shortcuts in the production environment.
Develop knowledge of pipeline regulations CFR 192 and 195; ASME 31.4 and 31.8; ability to adapt to client specifications and design criteria; working knowledge of material specifications and terminology; knowledge of construction methods and pipeline design criteria.
Develop knowledge of alignment sheet components, referencing protocol, revision protocol, working to develop and maintain drawing control schedule and project costs; reporting
Develop and assimilate project geographic locations and adapt relationships to other projects in area; ability to grasp and follow through on project scope, noting changes and out of scope occurrences; familiarity with Pipeline operator specifications and awareness of project requirements.
Must develop required job skills and knowledge to maintain productivity in an ever changing environment; effectively meet deadlines; develop the ability to produce drawings that are accurate, complete, and aesthetically correct

Key Tasks
Create, edit, and maintain drawings, documents and spreadsheets to MPH/Client’s CAD standards per supervisor’s instruction (verbal or written).
Printing/Reproduction - Print and reproduce documents of various sizes utilizing all MPH printers, plotters, scanners and copiers, and electronically package drawings for delivery to client. Fold and bind hard copy drawings when required.
Organizing, Planning and Prioritizing Work Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish assigned work.
Essential Qualifications
0-2 years of applicable experience in land survey, engineering design, and mapping relating to pipeline construction.
Technical training or degree is a prerequisite
Math skills and knowledge of survey and engineering methods and computations
Experience in Survey Reduction, Permit preparation, Right of way plat and metes and bounds preparation, boundary determination and description writing a plus
