About this opportunity 

As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will take a critical role in exploring new technology for future products and features. You will become part of a team, developing from concepts, through prototyping, and into mass-production. The team features a collaborative and hands-on environment that fosters engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation. Our ideal candidate has strong embedded system fundamentals, proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, and a passion for creating robust and efficient firmware solutions.

 

In this role, you will… 

  • Design, develop, and debug embedded firmware for new products and existing product enhancements.
  • Development device drivers and middleware to interface with peripherals and sensors.
  • Integrate algorithms for real-time operation and low-power consumption.
  • Implement security features (encryption, authentication, authorization) and validate against applicable security standards.
  • Conduct hardware-software integration testing and debugging, to ensure seamless operation and compatibility across different platforms.
  • Develop test plans and procedures for firmware verification and validation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, system engineers, and product manager to integrate firmware designs into overall system architecture, manage tradeoffs, and drive resolution of technical issues.
  • Support product manufacturing, including debugging issues during production and providing technical guidance.
  • Document design specifications, test results, and design changes.

 

In this role, you’ll need … 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or other related fields.
  • 5-8 years of product design and development experience of handheld and/or wearable electronics from prototyping to high volume manufacturing, including full firmware ownership.
  • Proven experience in embedded systems development, including firmware design and implementation.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller/microprocessor architectures, peripherals, and sensors.
  • Experience with wireless communication protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi).
  • Knowledge of data security and cybersecurity principles and practices in embedded systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex embedded systems.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in a team environment.
  • Experience in medical device industry is a plus.
