Residents gain hands-on teaching experience, learn alongside a highly effective mentor teacher, and join a supportive learning community of passionate aspiring educators.
The Residency is a partnership between Elevate Teaching, Loyola Marymount University (LMU) and select partner schools (Caliber Public Schools, Education for Change, and Invictus Academy) committed to educational equity.

Job Summary
Elevate Teaching and our partner schools are seeking diverse, passionate Teacher Residents to join our first residency cohort beginning in June 2024. This is a unique opportunity to earn your teaching credential through an affordable pathway while learning how to teach in a supportive environment. Residents will work 4 days a week as a paid Instructional Assistant alongside an experienced mentor teacher while earning a preliminary Multiple Subject, Single Subject or Special Education teaching credential in just one year. Residents also have the option to pursue a Masters Degree after completion of the Residency year. After the Residency Year, graduates receive priority hiring as teachers in Elevate Partner Schools (Caliber, Education for Change or Invictus Academy of Richmond).

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree completed by the end of May 2024
Minimum Grade point average (GPA) of 3.0*
Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) met through CBEST, SAT or ACT scores, undergraduate courses, or a combination of the above
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Provision of TB (tuberculin) clearance Initially upon hire in accordance with California Education Code
CA DOJ and FBI fingerprint (Livescan) clearance prior to start date
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination OR approved medical or religious exemption
If your GPA does not meet the requirements, you may still be considered with an exemptions letter
