Planning Engineer

Title: DER Interconnection Planning/Electrical Engineer

Location: Remote, USA

Type: Long Term Contractor

We are seeking an Engineer to join our Energy team as a valuable member in Commercial Electric, Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects completing Distributed Energy Resource interconnection studies.

This role demands expertise in electrical infrastructure, SCADA, protective relaying, controls, and a deep understanding of national codes, including NEC and NESC.

• Review electrical designs throughout project development, design, and construction phases, conduct advanced electrical modeling, and review equipment test reports and shop drawings.
• Broader technical knowledge in Low Voltage, Arc Flash, Energy Conservation, Mechanical, and Fire Protection engineering is a plus.
• Provide priorities of work, feedback on initiatives, and establish new focus areas to drive continuous improvement, supporting engineering teams.
• Infrequent travel to project sites to gather/document existing conditions and execute construction phase punch outs.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineering team members. Innovative thinking and a collaborative mindset

Qualifications:

• Experience with DER Interconnection requirements and corresponding studies is required.
• Must have expertise in electrical infrastructure, SCADA, protective relaying, and controls.
• Strong understanding of national codes, including NEC and NESC.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience preferred.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Master's degree preferred.
• Familiarity with power generation, plant design, environmental compliance and multi-discipline industrial projects.
• Experience working on decarbonization design efforts through state-of-the-art technologies in renewable energy, carbon capture, and hydrogen power.
