Electrical Design Engineer
Summary
This position is responsible for researching, planning, designing, and specifying electrical components for products, adhering to the company's Quality Policy while performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Review technical specifications and project reference drawings to ensure project knowledge and compliance.
- Develop electrical documentation (including field connection diagrams, detailed wiring diagrams, and logic diagrams) using SolidWorks Electrical and AutoCAD, guided by the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager (PE/PM).
- Assist the Project Engineer in creating the Bill of Materials (BOM) tree.
- Develop electrical BOMs with guidance from the PE/PM and Lead Electrical Engineer.
- Identify long-lead items to prioritize procurement.
- Communicate regularly with the Project Engineer about drawing standards, layout, design practices, and specification compliance for each project.
- Provide input for Control Narrative development.
- Prepare input/output and PLC bitmaps for the PLC Engineer.
- Develop PLC and HMI programs as required, under the guidance of the Project Engineer and/or Project Manager.
- Attend scheduled project meetings to review the status and progress of material procurement, fabrication, assembly, quality control, and project schedule.
- Routinely review project tasks (using Zoho Projects PM tool) for scheduled completion of drawings, and communicate specific needs or concerns with the PE/PM.
- Be available during the fabrication, assembly, and testing of engineered systems to ensure design requirements are met and to address any questions or needs promptly.
- Travel to sites if required to assist in troubleshooting equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
- 4-10 years of experience.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical (experience desired but not required).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel).
- Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC Programming (RS Logix and Connected Components Workbench).
