DNC Convention Director of Convention Services (Contract)

From August 19-22, 2024, the City of Chicago will be the epicenter of a historic event- the Democratic National Convention. Democrats from all over the country will gather to nominate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for re-election. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) is assembling a diverse team to aid in planning for daytime activities at the McCormick Place Convention Center.

The work schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays and this role is from June 30, 2024 through August 31, 2024.

During Convention week, McCormick Place will be the home to most daytime activities, where over 4,000 attendees will come together daily.

The DNC is seeking an individual to serve as Director of Convention Services who will be responsible for the overall logistics and operations of DNC-related meetings, events, attendee registration, and volunteers in the McCormick Center. The ideal person for this role has a proven track record in event and team management, particularly in large-scale event production and execution. They have held leadership roles at events that required a high level of security. They are comfortable working under pressure and able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. They possess exemplary problem-solving and project management skills and are adept at making sound decisions and communicating plans and processes to a vast range of constituents.

The Director of Convention Services will require travel, which could be more than 50% of the time.

The compensation for this role is $23,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
