Director, Procurement & Merchandising (Meat/Seafood)

As the Director of Procurement & Merchandising, you will manage the Merchandising team to achieve weekly gross profit goals and implement sound merchandising vehicles with our independent retailers to drive topline sales. You will also manage the merchandising support staff to ensure proper procedures and job responsibilities are completed successfully. You will have oversight and full ownership of meat and seafood categories for Piggly Wiggly Midwest.

Job Description

• Full-Time, On-Site Role
• Location: 2215 Union Ave., Sheboygan, WI 53081

You will contribute by:

• Meeting and/or exceeding budgeted gross profit goals for respective divisions weekly, including weekly gross profit production by merchandisers and Marketing/Advertising funding in collaboration with applicable stakeholders.
• Managing and supporting merchandisers experiencing vendor issues, credit requests, paybacks, funding tracking, gross profit generation, and sales-driving programs
• Training, coaching, mentoring, and clear expectations for team members are essential to achieving revenue goals and driving sales while providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
• Negotiating vendor contracts and managing vendor relationships to generate a steady income stream for the division, specifically focusing on meat and seafood categories.
• Managing the maximization of bill out and margin controls through alternative sourcing, margin controls, Flat Fees, and forward buys.
• Participating, leading, and executing special projects assigned by senior management.

We’re searching for candidates with:

• Experience in Contract Negotiation, Supply Chain & Operations Management
• Understanding of core competencies of wholesale model, ability to manage others, understanding of commodities and how they work
• Ability to negotiate, create, and build/leverage successful relationships with vendors, customers, and internal cross-functional teams.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong negotiation, organization, prioritization, problem-solving skills
• Ability to set and communicate directions to team members.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the Retail or Wholesale industry, ideally a combination of both.
• Experience leading teams preferred.
• Experience with procurement and merchandising in both meat and seafood categories.
