Summary

The Director of Operations role at sonnen Inc. resides on the company’s Executive Council and reports directly into the sonnen Inc. CEO. The Director of Operations has ultimate responsibility for the operation of sonnen’s Stone Mountain Georgia US Headquarters. The Director of Operations oversees the logistics, materials, warehouse management and inventory management functions at sonnen Inc. The Director of Operations overseas the local supply chain function. The Director of Operations oversees the sonnen Inc. Repair Center, product operations – including, but not limited to, test, refurbishment / upgrade work, customer RMAs, vendor supply chain RMAs, local production engineering, lite assembly and packaging. The Director of Operations role at sonnen Inc. is also responsible for Stone Mountain facilities management, as well as companywide employee safety

Key Areas Of Responsibility And Expectations

  • People and Company Culture:
  • Effectively manage, and continually improve the sonnen Inc. operations team, including day-to-day activities, overall employee productivity, development and wellness.
  • Build an operations culture of teamwork, respect, individual accountability, passion for the work, and willingness to do what it takes for the collective success of the company.
  • Logistics:
  • Support, manage, and strategically optimize the team that performs the following body-of-work, while taking ultimate responsibly for outcomes. In some cases, directly perform the work:
  • Ensure that inbound and outbound shipments to and from sonnen’s Stone Mountain facility are completed timely - with high quality – utilizing the correct sonnen Group processes, documentation and packaging, while imputing accurate data into SAP.
  • Logistically managed items include, but are not limited to, inbound and outbound unsold raw materials, inbound and outbound unsold finished goods, outbound post sale finished goods to-customer, inbound post sale finished goods (return from customer), outbound post sale raw materials (return to vendor), and general items for the facility.
  • Materials Planning, Warehouse and Inventory Management:
  • Support, manage, and strategically optimize the team that performs the following body-of-work, while taking ultimate responsibly for outcomes. In some cases, directly perform the work:
  • Ensure that all materials required for sonnen’s finished product, commensurate to successfully meeting the demand of the business, are appropriately attained and managed in sonnen’s Stone Mountain facility. Materials / goods are to be stored in specific and accurate locations, properly documented and organized in SAP, planned for use, appropriately moved from one location to the next when required, and appropriately recategorized in SAP when required. All of the above, while following proper sonnen Group processes and procedures.
  • Ensure the utmost accuracy in inventory by way of Spot Cycle Counts, Systemic Cycle Counts, and Comprehensive Physical Inventory Counts.
  • Ensure that the warehouse is highly organized and optimized to maximize operational efficiency, leading to a highly effective business operation. All of the above while adhering to the appropriate sonnen Group processes and accurate SAP documentation.
  • Deliver the WIC (Weekly Inventory Close) and MIC (Monthly Inventory Close) documents, processes and review meetings, alongside the US Finance and Business Operations organizations, ensuring a timely, and accurate financial P&L closing process.
  • Supply Chain Management:
  • Support, manage, and strategically optimize the team that performs the following body-of-work, while taking ultimate responsibly for outcomes. In some cases, directly perform the work:
  • Manage locally sourced vendor partnerships, demand planning and purchasing for sonnen Inc.’s business, specifically associated with small to mid-ticket locally sourced items in the product supply chain, in alignment with the sonnen Group’s Procurement organization strategy.
  • Manage purchasing for all internal non-sale items required by various departments of the US organization – including but not limited to - R&D, Operations, Revenue, and Marketing.
  • Provide local demand planning and execution support to the sonnen Group Procurement organization, as it pertains to “big ticket” internationally sourced supply chain.
  • Repair Center:
  • Support, manage, and strategically optimize the team that performs the following body-of-work, while taking ultimate responsibly for outcomes:
  • Successfully analyze customer product returns (RMAs), including appropriate tests and extensive documentation.
  • As it pertains to known defects that can be reliably repaired – perform repair and recycle product into inventory, with proper documentation.
  • In the case of known or unknown defects that cannot be repaired by sonnen Inc., properly document goods and expeditiously proceed to execute vendor RMAs, utilizing the appropriate process, procedure and documentation.
  • Attempt to perform Root-Cause-Analysis on defects. Work closely with the Quality and Service Organizations - share results and collaborate around potential causes, identify root causes and ultimately, generate Engineering Change Requests, with the appropriate documentation.
  • Product Operations:
  • Support, manage, and strategically optimize the team that performs the following body-of-work, while taking ultimate responsibly for outcomes:
  • Perform required upgrades and refurbishment of aged or new inventory that is not fully updated, as needed.
  • Perform required product lite assembly and test.
  • For all Product Operations, follow the appropriate process, procedure and complete documentation.
  • Facility Layout:
  • Collaborate with the sonnen Group Operations and sonnen Inc. leadership to layout and re-layout the Stone Mountain facility, in order to continually maximize effectiveness.
  • Facilities Management:
  • Perform all responsibilities of facility management.
  • Safety:
  • Support, manage, and strategically optimize the Head of Safety’s body-of-work, while taking ultimate responsibly for outcomes, and for building a sustained safety culture at sonnen Inc.
  • Continuously collaborate with sonnenGroup and Shell North America Safety associates, to synchronize, learn and take direction, regarding sonnen Inc. Safety initiatives.
  • For all Safety Initiatives, follow the appropriate process, procedure and complete documentation.
  • Company Leadership and Strategic Planning
  • Responsible for building, presenting, updating and ultimately attaining the annual sonnen Inc. Operations Strategic Plan, including Annual Keystone Objectives, quarterly OKRs, thoughtful strategy and detailed budget management. Strategic Plan shall be guided by the sonnen Group Operations Plan, the sonnen Inc. Annual Strategic Plan and local operations leadership.
  • sonnenGroup Integration
  • It is critical that the Director of Operations for sonnen Inc. in Stone Mountain, works closely with sonnen Group Global Operations on a constant basis, following established processes, procedures, and projects, established by the Group.

Skills And Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5+ years management experience in corporate operations.
  • Proven ability to develop effective teams, individual team-members and leaders.
  • Ability to stay nimble, while working effectively in a constantly changing fast growth environment, requiring an organized approach to achieve deadlines and targets.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specific bachelor’s degree in operations management, supply chain management, business administration, or related field.
  • Experience with corporate budgeting and business plan development.
  • Experience working with an international team.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience working with SAP.
